Górnik Zabrze announced another transfer. The team's new player is Matija Marsenić, who joined the club on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.

Born on 3 January 2005 in Montenegro, the footballer moved from his hometown of Berane to Germany at the age of 14, where he began training at the Bayer academy. In Leverkusen, he rose through the youth ranks until he became captain of the U-19 team. However, his development was hampered by a serious injury – in March last year, he tore his cruciate ligaments. “If it weren’t for that injury, bringing such a player to the Ekstraklasa would be almost impossible,” emphasizes Górnik’s sports director, Łukasz Milik. He also draws attention to his high technique, versatility and ability to perform set pieces with both feet.

Although Marsenić did not make his debut in an official match of the first team of Bayer, he had the opportunity to train under the watchful eye of Xabi Alonso and play in several friendly matches. In the Junioren Bundesliga he played 13 matches, scoring 2 goals. Now in Górnik he has to rebuild his form and return to the appropriate level. If he manages to do so under the watchful eye of Jan Urban, he can become an important point of the team.

His contract runs until June 2028.
